Message From the Editor

Welcome to the sixth issue of Scribere! As you know, in January we were given the amazing opportunity to hold a series of after-school writing workshops for youth, due to a grant we received from Youth Service America and Disney. The response was overwhelming, with almost 60 students aged 8-18 participating!

This issue constitutes Part Two of the submissions that came from the workshops we held, and this one is dedicated to the pieces written by 3rd to 5th graders who engaged in a speed-writing exercise. Pieces about unicorns, dragons, video games, and bringing objects to life are included in this round. Some pieces are full stories, while others are unfinished or could be developed into stories. We've included the unfinished ones to celebrate the spirit with which all of these young students came together to write. We were so impressed with their enthusiasm and creativity.

We're very glad we were able to hold such an event, and I really hope we will get the opportunity to do another one!

     Enjoy, and happy writing!
